The Somaliland Community Action Network (SCAN) project, designed to support and empower small-scale farmers from low-income communities in Biyo-macaan, Huluuq, Arabsiyo, and Agamsaha, is making significant strides in promoting climate-smart crop farming. This initiative comes at a critical time, following the severe drought and the destruction caused by El Nino rains.

A total of 100 household farmers in four villages from these communities begun to prepare, cultivate and clearance half an acre of land to increase production after assistance essential farm input. These efforts were preceded by the distribution of essential farming tools, enabling the farmers to prepare their land for planting.

The primary goal of the project is to enhance crop yields, improve the quality of agricultural products, and increase the market value and profitability of the farmers’ produce. By providing this support, the project aims to create a more resilient for climate and change sustainable farming community, thus improving food security and economic stability in these areas.
