Relief project emergency to respond for the locust outbreak, drought and covid19 pandemics has been going on around Somalia/Somaliland for past 3 years, luckily, it was WFP again standing and ready to save lives as it always does.
Moreover, SCAN has been working with WFP for many years for emergencies responds.
Food-assistance project has started from Qururuxley at 7th August 2021 and in 13 August it was going on the Gaboobe village which experienced locust outbreak at East Africa in middle of 2020. additional that, the village was struggling with set of series of diseases amongst those disease was the covid19 pandemic which has been economic destroyer for lot of socio-economics of most society in underdevelopment countries.
Gaboobe locates at 25 km away from Hargeisa Somaliland at the north side, the village comes under Darasalaam district governance and legislations.. the village is famous with livestock mostly camels, sheep’s and goats. but, these resources has been facing challenges set of obstacles from long lasting droughts that almost destroyed half of their livestock.
Project objective was to respond to those catastrophic events that hit the vulnerable families at Gaboobe, therefore, SCAN under WFP has consider their pain. therefore, 150 families has been registered to benefit from this project which will be going on for five months.
for the relief project to be successfully completed, the project must not exceed from the allocated time which was roughly one day of the working days, therefore, thanks to the village community and their effortless contribution project relief has been completed short amount of time, which brings a extra time to review, monitor and evaluate the successfulness of the project.
150 families has been registered, these families were the lower class and most vulnerable members of the Gaboobe village.
WFP and Government of Somaliland has stand with us during the implementation of the first phase of this project, which made it easy for us to control and implement the project successfully.
the project has been well implemented within all the allocated resources, although, the appraising and appreciation is due to the people of the village and their leaders, Scan will always be humble and down to the earth to help and stand with this village till the economy restores to its original phase.
Thanks to the People at Gaboobe for their continuous support, 150 families has been registered for food-assistance relief project which will be going on for five months in amount of $65 for each and every families whom have been registered in this project.
