Hargeisa, Somaliland – January 30, 2025 – The Somaliland Community Action Network (SCAN) successfully conducted a Capacity Building Training on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) for its Climate-Smart Food System Project Staff operating in the Gabiley Region. The training, held at the SCAN Meeting Hall in Hargeisa, ran from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM and brought together key project staff committed to advancing sustainable agricultural practices in Somaliland.

This comprehensive training aimed to enhance the technical expertise of SCAN’s agricultural team, equipping them with the latest knowledge and practical skills in climate-smart and sustainable farming techniques. Participants received in-depth training on soil health management, efficient irrigation and water conservation methods, integrated pest and disease control strategies, organic farming techniques, and sustainable crop production practices. Special emphasis was placed on adaptation strategies for climate change, resource-efficient farming methods, and innovative agricultural technologies to improve food security and resilience in vulnerable communities.

By strengthening the capacity of its field staff, SCAN reaffirms its commitment to promoting environmentally sustainable and climate-resilient food systems. The training is part of SCAN’s broader initiative to support farmers and agricultural communities in Somaliland with practical, science-based solutions that enhance productivity while preserving natural resources.
