SCAN, in partnership with the WFP through the Project Climate Agriculture Smart to plantation over 90,000 Square Meters of land with vegetable awarded lands in Arabsio village. Our goal was to initiate empowering farmers to rebuild their livelihoods, restart farming, and enhance food security for their families. Last week, our team revisited some communities to check the farms and hear the experiences and stories of the farmers.
Some of them even continued to maintain backyard nurseries to supply seedlings for replanting. We were thrilled to learn that, while farmers expect economic returns in for their families, caring for these plants contributed positively to their well-being. Most of them now look forward every day to their new routine of cultivating and monitoring the progress of the plants, a shift from the usual monotony of sugarcane planting.
