For the past 3 decades, Somaliland has been struggling, politically, socio-economy, environmentally and socially to make impact within their development. the struggle started from when Somaliland regained its independence from Somalia, which they emerged at the year of 1960.

After years of steady development, peace and stability the country is still not strong economically, people suffer and have minimum daily income. the Ministry of planning and National Development stated in its National Development Plan 2 that the GDP of the country is estimated as USD400 per capita in 2012. with little growth GDP of the past ten years.

Droughts are one of the most disaster that has been continuously affected the rural development and reduce its livestock production as well their crop farming production.

Lack of investment, human capital development and economic development has make Somaliland one of the poorest countries in the world.

Although the country is enjoying social stability and peace yet the economically country suffer more.

However, despite the adversity, money remittances, aid and livestock mark up 90% of countries GDP and this is why it is important to take account the challenges and opportunities of these sources to produce a futuristic sustainable long time economic growth.

SCAN is one of the local non profit organizations which stands for the development, environmental protection, aid providence through a initiative innovative social solutions to reduce the poverty and increase the resilience of the rural community.

Furthermore, SCAN works closely with other INGO, Government Agencies, Different Socio-economy Communities and other Local Non Profit Organizations to collaborate an impact and to address and find a innovative social solutions to the long lasting social challenges and create an environment where all the human, environment and wild life can coexist.

For the past 3 years SCAN was closely working with WFP to implement set of series community based projects primarily on rural areas.

The Organization has been implementing projects to prevent and reduce the pain of the effected communities in the rural areas. particularly those with less privilege, with children, women and elders, who has little to no sustainable income.

The Organization has completed an impact and implemented projects on these villages and the result is shocking.

Impact

The organization has reach Aids to almost 12,000 families which sums up hundreds of thousands of people. the impact that SCAN LNGO has on these villages is visible and shocking. the community has become aware of their capacity, their basic need is been covered now they are focusing more on their collective needs to make an everlasting impact. like, economic stream developments. prevention of diseases, collaborating for developing social infrastructures like schools, dams, reservoirs, and so on.

The list of the programs that SCAN LNGO has provided to the rural people of these villages are.

  1. 2 large earth embankments at Huluuq and boodhley.
  2. Soil bunds at Huluuq, Boodhley, Biyo-Macaan
  3. Relief program at Beeyo-Baxday, boocley, Jaleelo, Ballayga cas and so on for 2,017 families
  4. livelihood programs at Hora-Haadley in 2019
  5. livelihood soil bunds at Arro yanbo, Agamsaha and Biyo-Macaan.

in conclusion, the communities around these villages need strong support both locally and internationally. they need help with their schools, WASH facilities, health and overall social wellness. SCAN closely works with village leaders to make an impact and always find a way to bring life among these vulnerable families so they can help one another and produce life worth living for everyone.
